My name is Aarav Chandrasekar and I am a teenager living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have many passions such as reading, tennis, 80’s rock and metal (GN’R, Iron Maiden, and Queen all the way) and food. I love food. Well frankly, I always have. Growing up, the kid’s section of a menu felt almost comic to me. Why would anyone want to get chicken tenders with the ranch when you could have grilled salmon topped with a decadent lemon butter sauce?
As I got older, I began craving fresh ingredients and a wider range of flavors–herbs, spices, chili, and vinegar. It was around this time that my sister and I were really old enough to remember our travel. One day in Solvang, I was browsing through pictures of the delicious food we had eaten, and it struck me that I could share my amazing experience with the rest of the world, and I started this blog.
Since then, I have been able to travel the world, from Asia to Europe to all over America. I’ve dined in some of the finest restaurants and the most hole-in-the-wall local shops. With the start of COVID-19, when all these incredible opportunities to eat out were stripped away from me, I decided to give my shot at exploring the culinary arts. For so long, I had been eating amazing foods, so what was stopping me from cooking my own? For the past 5 months, I have embraced this opportunity to innovate and explore and have started writing about my experiences with cooking.
Because I live in a vegetarian household, I have had to dive deep to find ideas and recipes that would rival their non-vegetarian counterparts. I am beginning to adopt a more sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle that utilizes fresh ingredients straight from the garden and have come to the realization that the stigma against veggies is unnecessary. In some cases, you may even be surprised about the potential they hold.
